Will You gain weight on Creon?

Will You gain weight on Creon?

You may not gain weight on Creon. This pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy can make it easier for you to process food and the way your body digests and absorbs it.

These effects can cause positive weight-related changes. Typically, Creon is not known for causing weight gain or loss. If you are experiencing unusual weight gain while taking Creon, please reach out to your doctor.

What is the relationship between Creon and possible weight gain?

Creon and weight gain don’t relate that well because this effect is not a common one with this pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy. As we have just discussed, some people actually lose weight simply because Creon helps in the better regulation of food and better digestion (1).

This can help you eat good food without dealing with pancreatic insufficiency. However, some people can gain weight not because of Creon, but because of other factors. This is common in people who are suffering from a chronic disease that keeps eating them away.

If we look at people with pancreatic insufficiency, the majority of the people can not eat well because of the complications they face when they eat food. Their diets are very restricted and it can result in weight loss over time.

The same is the case with cancer patients. We all know how cancer is a type of predator that literally eats away its prey. Such people begin to lose weight rapidly. In fact, unexplained weight loss could be the first visible symptom of cancer in some people.

For such people, Creon can help with the digestion and absorption of food. This can make eating a bit more comfortable for you and can make you gain some of the weight you have lost.

This is how Creon can make you gain weight, but it’s a good kind of weight gain and certainly the one that can help you feel a little better.

What to do if Creon makes you gain weight?

If you’re a person who was losing weight prior to using Creon and this pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy helps you eat better, this is actually a good sign. You should absolutely do nothing about it. You should, in fact, feel happy.

However, if you’re gaining an abnormal amount of weight on Creon, talk to your healthcare provider. There could be other factors involved without you knowing about them. Only your doctor can help you determine what’s actually happening to you and what could be done to prevent it.
