What are the alternatives to T/Sal shampoo?

There are some shampoos currently available in the market that can be used as alternatives to the T/Sal shampoo. These include:

  • Shampoos containing Ketoconazole
  • Coal Tar shampoo
  • Normal anti-dandruff shampoos

T/Sal shampoo contains salicylic acid, the main ingredient in this shampoo. It can easily be replaced by other shampoos which have the same proportion of salicylic acid in them. T/Sal shampoo is primarily used for dandruff and dermatitis.

Let’s look into the details of alternatives.

Shampoos containing Ketoconazole

Ketoconazole shampoo is a good alternative to T/Sal shampoo if you have been using it for fungal dermatitis. It shows good results in removing the flaky layer on your scalp.

You can find a variety of generic and brand shampoos containing this antifungal agent. However, if it’s not fungal in origin, there are plenty of other products that you can use.

Coal Tar shampoos

Coal Tar shampoo can easily replace T/Sal shampoo. These shampoos also contain salicylic acid in them, usually in the same amount as T/Sal shampoo. This salicylic acid works in the exact same way and actively reduces your dandruff and other symptoms associated with it.

Normal anti-dandruff shampoos

Normal anti-dandruff shampoos that you can easily find in your local stores can be effectively used against your dandruff if it is not associated with any skin condition.

There are plenty of such shampoos and you can look for reviews before you buy them. The most common brand available in almost every part of the world is Head & Shoulders.

Final words

It’s best to talk to your dermatologist if you’re concerned about using the right kind of shampoo for your dandruff or if you have any other skin condition. One product may not work for everyone and your dermatologist can recommend a product based on the details specific to you.
