Does Xyzal cause weight gain?

Does Xyzal cause weight gain?

Xyzal may or may not cause weight gain as a side effect. The duration of your treatment with this antihistamine matters a lot in this case. Occasional use of Xyzal does not cause weight gain. Even if it does, it’s negligible.

However, chronic use of Xyzal can cause a noticeable amount of weight gain (1). Make sure you monitor your side effects properly and talk to your healthcare provider about them.

Why does Xyzal cause weight gain?

Xyzal may cause weight gain by increasing your appetite. As stated earlier, this side effect is not common in people who are occasional users of the drug.

However, people, who continue to use this medication or overuse it are more susceptible to this appetite change. As they begin to eat unhealthy foods over and over again to satiate their appetite, such people begin to gain weight. It can also cause weight gain in children (2).

What to do if Xyzal makes you gain weight?

There are a few things you can do if Xyzal makes you gain weight. These include:

Talk to your doctor

It is important to talk to your healthcare provider about Xyzal-induced weight gain. Your doctor will determine how long you should use this medication or if you’re misusing it in any way. If you’re taking the drug properly and are still gaining weight, Xyzal may not be a good choice of medication for you.

Exercise

Exercise is the best way to lose weight, no matter how you gain it. Medication-induced weight gain can be a little tricky to lose, but persistent exercise and a good diet can help you achieve your weight loss goals.

Xyzal can be involved with your body’s metabolism and the primary cause of weight gain is increased appetite. This type of weight can become difficult to lose, especially if you do not lead a healthy lifestyle. However, exercise can be an excellent addition to your routine in order to lose Xyzal-induced weight gain.

Eat healthy foods

If Xyzal makes you hungry over and over again, make sure you choose good and healthy foods to satisfy your hunger. This way you will not fill your body up with unnecessary calories that get stored in your body as fat later.

This way you will be able to avoid a significant amount of weight gain, especially if you’re a chronic user. However, do not use Xyzal chronically if your doctor has not advised it.
