Does Plavix cause weight loss?

Does Plavix cause weight loss?

No, Plavix does not cause weight loss. This side effect was not reported during clinical trials and was not seen in any other research study. However, some people may lose their sense of taste (1). This can make food undesirable for them and they may begin to eat less.

This lesser consumption of calories can make you lose weight over time. However, the underlying health condition may also make them lose weight. If you’re on Plavix and you’re experiencing weight loss, talk to your healthcare provider.

Only your doctor can determine what’s making you lose weight and what should be done to reverse it. Make sure you don’t pair Plavix with any medication without your doctor’s approval. In general, Plavix is not associated with either weight loss or weight gain.

What side effects are common with Plavix use?

It is important to note that not everyone taking Plavix will experience these side effects and they can vary from patient to patient. Factors like age, weight, dosage strength, frequency, underlying health conditions, and overall health can make a difference.

Make sure you properly monitor the side effects and report them to your doctor. People are different and can respond differently to medications. If you are losing weight, you need to discuss this with your doctor.
