Does Myrbetriq cause hair loss?

Does Myrbetriq cause hair loss?

Myrbetriq may or may not cause hair loss. Although it is considered an extremely rare side effect, some people have complained of hair thinning and hair loss.

The exact mechanism through which this medication affects your hair is not fully known, but some experts have indicated that Myrbetriq could affect your immune system and make it malfunction.

This malfunctioning could cause your immune cells to mistakenly attack the healthy cells of your skin, which could lead to hair loss. However, this is not observed in healthy individuals and hair loss is not something people commonly report while being treated with Myrbetriq.

Is Myrbetriq-induced hair loss reversible?

Yes, hair loss on Myrbetriq is reversible and it starts to subside once the medication has stopped. However, I would never recommend stopping your medication without your doctor’s approval.

What to do if Myrbetriq causes hair loss?

The first and the most important thing to do if Myrbetriq causes hair loss is to talk to your healthcare provider. If this medication is causing an autoimmune attack on your healthy skin and hair cells, it should not be continued.

Your doctor may switch you to another medication and will most likely prescribe an Immunosuppressive medication to stop the autoimmune attack. Make sure you don’t start or stop using any medication without your doctor’s approval.
