Does Flomax expire?

Does Flomax expire?

Yes, Flomax does expire. It usually comes with a shelf-life of 2 years. Flomax can outlive its shelf-life if the medication is stored properly. The active ingredient in Flomax is Tamsulosin which is used for the treatment and management of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).

However, I would not recommend relying on expired Flomax for symptomatic BPH.

What are the possible dangers associated with the use of expired Flomax?

Expired Flomax is not toxic on its own, but it will do you no good if the drug has lost its potency. Expired medications are not guaranteed by either the manufacturers or healthcare providers.

This is why it’s not considered wise to use expired medications as they will not make your symptoms go away and you will continue to suffer.

This is why it is generally recommended by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to not take expired medications, as you never know how they may end up harming your body (1).

What to do if you have used expired Flomax?

If you have taken a dose or two expired Flomax, don’t worry. If it has recently expired, the drug will most likely help you with your symptoms. However, if the drug has lost its potency, you will not observe any therapeutic response.

Make sure you talk to your healthcare provider about your symptoms and get a new prescription as the expired one won’t help you much.
