From her undergraduate studies to her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Pharmacy, Dr Natália Marcéli Stephanes has participated in numerous scientific studies in the field of oncology and onco-hematology at the University Hospital of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Her research has focused on understanding the molecular and biochemical bases of malignant neoplasms and investigating safer and more effective therapeutic alternatives.
Dr Natália Marcéli Stephanes has also served as an assistant professor of haematology for undergraduate students at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Additionally, she held the position of professor of Hospital Pharmacy at the Qualificar Technical School in Brazil, where she developed instructional materials for use in the Pharmacy Postgraduate Program at the Leonardo Da Vinci University Center.
In addition to her academic experiences, Dr Natália Marcéli Stephanes possesses a strong expertise in commercial pharmacy, with in-depth knowledge of medications, their routes of administration, desired effects, adverse effects, and toxicity.
Currently, Dr Natália Marcéli Stephanes works as a Pharmacist at the Health Department of Santa Catarina State, where her role entails providing pharmaceutical scientific consulting services to judges.

Can Nuvigil be cut in half?
Yes, Nuvigil (Armodafinil) can be cut in half for splitting the dose or if you find it difficult to swallow the tablets whole. Although these pills are not scored, they can be split using a proper pill cutter.
They don’t usually crumble or break apart when the pressure from the cutter is exerted, so the tablets can be divided into two with a clean cut. However, It’s still best to reach out to your healthcare provider before you start cutting Nuvigil tablets.
Risks associated with cutting Nuvigil tablets
One of the biggest concerns with cutting Nuvigil tablets is to divide them into two equal halves for uniform dose distribution(1). Since the tablets are not scored, you need to be precise while using a pill cutter and shouldn’t try to break the tablets with your hands.
You can never achieve an equal split that way. Content uniformity is crucial to maintain when splitting tablets, or you may end up taking more or less than the prescribed dose. Some people may try and take a lower dose if they have a drug test coming up, thinking that Nuvigil may make them fail it.
However, Nuvigil is not a controlled substance and it can not affect your drug test results. Just make sure you do not change your dose or skip taking the medication without consulting your doctor first.
Alternatives to cutting Nuvigil
It’s best to ask your healthcare provider for an alternative before you decide to cut Nuvigil tablets. If you can do it safely, your doctor will give you the go-ahead. If not, your doctor will suggest you an alternative if you have difficulty swallowing tablets in general.
