Can you take expired Baclofen?

Can you take expired Baclofen?

It is not recommended to take expired Baclofen or any other medication for that matter. Baclofen comes with a shelf-life of about 2-3 years like most medications, and it is not recommended to take it once the expiration date has passed.

Bactrim does not necessarily become toxic or poisonous once it expires, but it does lose its potency over time. There is no way to be sure when this process begins after drug expiry and there’s no easy way to determine how much potency is left.

What are the risks of taking expired Baclofen?

Expired Baclofen does not go bad, it just loses its efficacy. This indicates that you won’t be able to achieve the therapeutic efficacy you are hoping for and the expired med will not relieve your symptoms.

Baclofen controls muscle spasms and the pain associated with them. Since the expired one may have lost its potency, you will not see any positive change in your condition, which is definitely not an ideal outcome.

This is why you should always stick to unexpired Baclofen or any other medication if you wish to achieve a safe and effective therapeutic response (1).

What to do if you have accidentally taken expired Baclofen?

If you have taken expired Baclofen and you feel unwell, call your local medical emergency helpline and seek medical attention. Although it is highly unlikely to feel sick after taking a dose or two of expired Baclofen.

However, people are different and can respond differently to medications. This is why it’s in your best interest to avoid the use of expired meds altogether.

You never know how these meds may affect your body. It’s a risk you shouldn’t take, especially if you’re someone with an underlying chronic disease or someone who’s generally sensitive to medications.
