Can you take Benadryl and DayQuil together?
Yes, you can take Benadryl and DayQuil together and it is safe to do so. None of the ingredients present in DayQuil interacts with Benadryl in any way.
However, DayQuil is supposed to be taken in the daytime to help relieve your cold and flu symptoms without making you sleepy, and that’s the entire purpose of this formulation.
Benadryl, on the other hand, is highly sedative and is often used as a sleep aid for this very reason. If you pair Benadryl with DayQuil, Benadryl will surely make you sleepy.
This is why it’s best to take these two at different times if you’re taking them both. I would recommend taking DayQuil in the morning or daytime and Benadryl at bedtime. DayQuil can also be taken with non-sedative antihistamines like Claritin.
However, DayQuil may rarely cause sedation or tiredness in some people, which may feel more pronounced when this OTC med is combined with Benadryl.
